Development centres
Development centres have been a popular diagnostic process for assessing the strengths and development needs of managerial staff for over two decades.
Based principally on the assessment centre method, they may use a combination of simulations, 360° feedback and psychological testing to provide comprehensive diagnostic feedback to the individuals participating.
They are invariably coupled with a development planning process which identifies to individuals a wide range of tools for development, leading to preparation of a plan to build on strengths and address development needs.
Development centres are used to support performance management and succession planning, to help individuals through periods of significant job or culture change and as the leading edge to a major leadership development program initiative.
Christine Farrell has been a pioneer in this field and was the creator of the 'self insight assessment centre', a unique development centre where the participants are also the assessors.
